C-Consult Inc is an accounting practice in Kleinmond, Western Cape, South Africa. For this policy, C-Consult Inc is the responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Our Information Officer is Christiaan Scheepers, Director. What this policy covers
This policy covers personal information we collect through this website: when you browse it, send a message through the contact form, or book a consultation. Information we handle for clients during an engagement is covered by the engagement letter you sign with us.
Information we collect
Details you give us: your name, email address, phone number, business name and the contents of your message.
Booking details: the name, email address and notes you enter when you book a consultation.
Technical information: your browser and device type, the pages you visit and your approximate location, collected through cookies and similar tools when analytics is in use.
Please do not send identity numbers, tax reference numbers, bank details or financial documents through the website. We will ask for what we need, through a secure channel, once an engagement starts.
Why we use it
To reply to your enquiry and arrange a consultation, because you asked us to and it is a step towards a possible engagement.
To run, secure and improve this website, which is in our legitimate interest.
To meet our legal and professional obligations.
We do not use your information for any other purpose without telling you first, and we do not sell it.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers (operators, in POPIA terms) to run the website and our practice:
Framer, which hosts this website and processes contact form submissions.
Calendly, which manages consultation bookings.
Microsoft 365, which runs our email.
Google Analytics, which tells us how the website is used, when analytics is switched on.
We share only what each provider needs, and we disclose information to authorities only when the law requires it.
Information stored outside South Africa
Some of these providers store information on servers outside South Africa, for example in the European Union or the United States. We use providers that are bound by data protection laws or agreements that give a level of protection similar to POPIA, as section 72 of POPIA requires.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and booking information only for as long as we need it to respond and follow up, and for no longer than 12 months if you do not become a client, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
How we protect it
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No website or email service is completely secure, so please share sensitive information only once we have agreed how to send it.
Cookies
This website uses cookies that it needs to work. If analytics is switched on, it also uses analytics cookies to count visits and see which pages are used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the website will still work.
Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
ask whether we hold personal information about you, and for a copy of it;
ask us to correct or delete it;
object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent;
complain to the Information Regulator.

Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za or enquiries@inforegulator.org.za.
Children
This website is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
